Install Circuit Board Terminal Adapters

Tools Needed: Phillips screwdriver, needle nose pliers, circuit board terminal adapter kit (included with Circuit Board or Front Cover Plate Assembly purchase).


Follow along as we walk through how to use the terminal adapters in ensuring compatibility between different generations of FlowZone® circuit boards and battery holsters. 

With the introduction of QuickSwap™-compatibility, users now have the ability to use select third party branded battery packs from Milwaukee®, DeWalt®, Makita®, or Bosch® to power our latest flagship 4-gallon Pro-Series sprayers (Typhoon 3™, Cyclone 3™, and Zephyr™).

Step-By-Step Instructions:


STEP 1: Identify the Sprayer/Circuit Board Model

Before we begin, it is crucial to identify which terminal configuration is needed. There are two scenarios:

Scenario A: QuickSwap™-compatible sprayer


Identified by:

  • Current battery holster terminals: 0.25" positive (+) and 0.187" negative (-)
  • Replacement circuit board: May come with two 0.25" female prongs

Scenario A Goal: Use the 0.187" adapter to downsize the negative (black wire) terminal on the replacement circuit board in order to install it onto the QuickSwap™ battery holster.

Scenario B: Legacy series 3 sprayer


Identified by:

  • Current battery holster terminals: 0.25" positive (+) and 0.25" negative (-)
  • Replacement circuit board: May feature one 0.25" and one 0.187" female prong

Scenario B Goal: Use the 0.25" adapter to match the negative (black wire) terminal on the replacement circuit board to the legacy battery holster.



STEP 2: Prepare the Circuit Board

  1. Inside the terminal adapter kit you will find two adapters: (x1) 0.187" and (x1) 0.25". You will only need to use one of the adapters based on the scenario.
  2. Scenario A - Take the smaller 0.187" adapter. Insert the flat male end into the 0.25" female negative (black) prong on the circuit board
    Scenario B - Take the larger 0.25" adapter. Insert the flat male end into the 0.187" female negative (black) prong on the circuit board.
  3. Ensure the connection is secure. You now have the correct terminal sizes to match your sprayer's battery holster.


STEP 3: Access the Internal Components

  1. Remove the battery and disconnect the external hose and spray gun from the unit for easier access.
  2. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the 7 screws securing the front cover plate. Note that some screws are located under the battery cover.
  3. Carefully pull the front cover plate away to expose the internal wiring and the circuit board.


STEP 4: Install the Replacement Circuit Board

  1. Carefully disconnect the existing circuit board.

  2. Attach the replacement circuit board to the battery holster. Ensuring that:
  • The positive (red) wire connects to the positive terminal (0.25").
  • The negative (black) wire with the adapter is connected to the negative terminal.

Note: It is crucial to only connect the black wire to the negative terminal and the red wire to the positive terminal. Incorrect installation could cause damage to the sprayer and void the warranty.


STEP 5: Test and Reassemble

  1. Position the replacement circuit board securely in its housing on the front cover plate.

  2. Before closing up the sprayer, it is recommended to insert a charged battery, connect the hose and spray gun, and turn the unit on.

  3. Once the sprayer is confirmed to be in working condition, secure the front cover plate back onto the tank.
